Cody

Last week we said goodbye to Cody. Our partner-in-DIY. Codeman. The one who was at his happiest when he was by our side. The buddy who you’ve gotten to see on this blog. He was simply awesome. He came to live with me at age 1, just 3 months after I bought my first home and a full year before I began this blog. He was a total companion dog who assumed his role perfectly and saw me transition through enormous life stages like marrying, moving, and babies.

Best remembered for his morning snuggles, nonstop talking, high-speed sprinting, and those silly face buttons that made his lips curl like Elvis. Honored for his loyalty. Loved his purple toy, walks on the beach, anyone walking down our street, naps in the Jeep, watching wildlife, and snow.

Thanks to those of you who have reached out with kind messages. We are happy to have been his people.

Our Christmas Living Room 2017

This is my favorite time of year for this room. It never gets any better than to come down here in the morning and put on the Christmas tree and snuggle up into one of the chairs with a baby. It’s the best feeling when only one of them is awake so I can have some real one on one time.

The twins are obsessed with the lights and ornaments and are now pulling themselves up onto the coffee table… which means the tray is almost always off the table and we have to regularly make sure they haven’t somehow been able to rip any of the ornaments off the trees. We purchased black foam coffee table corners, which thankfully don’t show up in any photo, but they definitely give me a piece of mind, even though we are down to three (Vera tried eating one right off the coffee table).

This past weekend we did our own Christmas morning right here since we will be in New York visiting AJ’s family for Christmas. It’s fun to create our own traditions even if they aren’t on the actual Christmas day.
